Measurement of Academic Progress (MAP)
MAPs or Measure of Academic Progress is an assessment system that many states across the U.S. are adopting. The assessment measures individual student progress in Math, Reading and Language. More importantly it allows teachers to see what specific goals and objectives students are achieving or struggling with. To learn more visit www.nwea.org
The MAPs uses RIT scores to measure a student's progress. RIT or Rasch Unit helps explain where students are ready to begin instruction. Just think, Ready for Instruction Today - RIT. I have recently came across a website that can help increase your child's RIT score. Please follow the directions below if you are interested.
1. Go to www.jogtheweb.com
2. Type in Map Practice in the search (where it says Search Jogs...)
3. Click on the blue hyperlink above the picture of the wizard and it should bring you to the following website:
http://www.jogtheweb.com/run/Tun1RYgzR6X2/MAP-Practice
4. Here you can find practice problems, games, and activities for Math and Reading organized by RIT scores. Please keep in mind that some of these activity links will take you to other sites.
5. Please send Mr. Dulberger your feedback! Knowing what practices your child finds engaging and useful is very helpful information.
